It wasn’t until recently I started to feel the need to speak up. I have always been a person who wanted to help others. When I did, I felt deeply what others were feeling. So it felt really good when I was able to make a difference.
It was only a matter of time before I used Kate Ampersand as a platform to help young women in the arts. I weaved this really important aspect into my brand 5 years ago. I have helped a number of amazingly talented ladies start their business or go to school with a purpose. It has been an incredible journey, and I have made wonderful friends through these experiences. But it isn’t enough. The fire in me is burning. My efforts don’t seem equal to the passion I have for a community of women that feel empowered and brave enough to reach for their dream.
Today is International Women’s Day. I didn’t even realize how important this was to the world until a couple years ago. Before it was a marked date on my google calendar. In honor of the women I know, the women I have yet to meet, and the special women who have helped to shape who I am, thank you. I’m proud of you, and proud to stand beside you as a sister, an aunt, a business woman, a mentor, and a friend.
On behalf of all women, Kate Ampersand has donated to the Milagro House, a Lancaster non profit dedicated to helping women and children who are left homeless for many reasons. They provide education, housing, and counseling for women and their children. Every year, Kate Ampersand will continue to find ways to support this local outreach program and others like it, in an effort to give back to a cause that means a lot to so many.
